Journey2Healthy 1 Posted March 27, 2012 I don't know about everyone else, but it was hard finding such a high protien shake. I finally found a 45 g protien shake at smoothie king. I need between 80-100 grams a day, the nutritionist said that's what I need because I'm taller than average, but I'm not really that tall! How much Protein does everyone else take in? What shakes do you have? This is going to be the hardest part, I think!
Holly Dolly 575 Posted March 27, 2012 My dr suggested 60 after surgery. He now said to aim for 45. I usually get in around 60 a day no problem.
hedder14 59 Posted March 27, 2012 I average between 80-90 grams of Protein per day... I get 60 grams from my two Protein Shakes I have a day and the rest either comes from the fish or chicken I eat.. My dietician said that the average female should get no less then 55 grams of protein per day and men 65 per day, but the more protein you get the better.. legnarevocrednu 47 Posted March 27, 2012 I can usually get in AT LEAST 50 grams of Protein (on really good days, I can get in at least 70). I don't drink shakes. I just eat protein rich foods. Mostly from greek yogurt, chicken, and eggs.< /p>
readytogoforit 172 Posted March 27, 2012 I have attached a nutritional listing from smoothie king; are you aware of the calories and carbs in their smoothies? we really have to investigate what we eat. http://www.smoothieking.com/smoothies/nutritional-chart.php
waitingpatiently 250 Posted March 27, 2012 My doctoor wants at least 60 grams. I have become a fan of New whey. It has 42 grams Protein in 4oz. It tastes like kool-aid. You can buy a few flavors at Walmart for 2.50. You can look at the product at www.newwhey.com I mix 1 newwhey with crystal light and then mix it with about 10 oz Water then pour it over crushed ice......I split it into 2 servings. armymom2012 51 Posted March 27, 2012 I get around 50grams of Protein on a good day maybe 60. I was told I should be getting around 70, but that rarely happens, because I haven't found a Protein Shake or bar I really like since the surgery. Otherwise I get mine from Fish, chicken, eggs and beans.Regardless, I am still losing weight at a good rate. I try to write down what I eat, so I don't lose control and have started to walk atleast 4 days a week. Watch out for those smooties. Most have lots of calories and sugar. Journey2Healthy 1 Posted March 27, 2012 I have attached a nutritional listing from smoothie king; are you aware of the calories and carbs in their smoothies? we really have to investigate what we eat. http://www.smoothiek...ional-chart.php My nutritionist recommended the "Gladiator". It's 180 calories, one of the lowest ones they have, is that still bad for a protien shake? This is all so confusing now that I also have to keep the Protein in mind also. TracieCat 8 Posted March 27, 2012 My surgeon currently has my Protein level at about 80 to 90 grams a day. I TRY getting in at least two Protein Shakes to get this amount up, along with chicken or whatever other food based protein I am eating on a particular day. I dont always succeed at the higher protein amount I am supposed to get, but am working on it. My metabolism has slowed dramatically and my surgeon says that the higher protein, along with some weight training I will soon be starting should get the ball rolling again weight loss wise. I sure hope so, am tired of staying at the same weight for months now.

Only one carb, less than the Protein Shake powder I use here even, and you are getting a higher Protein amount. 1 Journey2Healthy reacted to this

NWgirl 574 Posted March 27, 2012 I was given a Protein level of 75g. The calculation to figure out the amount of protein you need is body weight x 0.3.
