I did see some good good juice high Protein Drinks today at Kroger in the produce area where they keep naked juice drinks they looked good but pricey. 3-5 a drink but it could give you a brake of the same old thing? Like I said before check with your dr to see if they are ok to drink. Good luck.

Unflavored Protein is a good option. My first week post op I blended with strained hot and sour Soup to get the protein in. My problem towards the end of the week was nothing seemed like it had flavor!

U can get enough Protein from other fluids, greek yoghurt mixed with skimmed milk, home made green veg Soup with loads of frozen peas ( stick blended to a liquid ) u need to follow doctors instructions tho, if he says shakes only then just find one that suits you. maybe some Atkins drinks / Meal Replacement would taste better ...

I got through my liquid stage without any Protein Shakes at all and still dont use them. I prefer Protein from whole food and stick to that. In the UK there isnt the emphasis on protein shakes like the US and we are all still alive and healthy :). 6 days to go .. just muddle through, and do what u can to get your daily amounts eaten if u dont manage it dont beat yourself up over it, nothing will happen to u in such a short time :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
