I have a NSV!

Recommended Posts

My NSV that I wanted to share was that I can wear 3 inch heels again with no problem!!!!!! :clap2: I went to DSW and bought me 2 new pair and I am loving it! I have a friend of mine who is so excited that I am buying shoes like this because she is one of those girls that are addicted to shoes and most of hers are 4 inch heels!!! Oh I am so not there yet and not sure if I would wear them that high but she is a pro in them from wearing them for years! She works in real estate and walks in subdivisions with them on! OMG! She has awesome calves and that is what I am striving to get back...those sexy, muscular calves that make even me go WOW! about myself. :)

One thing I forgot to mention about getting back into 3 inch heels...dancing is so much more fun! Yes...by the end of the night I want to soak my feeties but it so worth the pain!!

Cool! I haven't worn heels in YEARS!!!! I was only able to wear Birks for years due to wide swollen feet. I have graduated to tennies & other flat shoes since my surgery. I was thinking the other night about trying some pumps for Easter. You go girl!!!! I'm impressed!!

I have to second this NSV!! I just recently actually got into a pair of pantyhose, put on a dress and 3 inch heels. I felt SOOOOO hot. I used to dress like that all the time!! I LOVED that I was actually able to wear the heels all day. My new man was VERY happy to see me that day!!

Good NSV! Thank you for reminding me to acknowledge such things!!!

Awesome NSV, for a wedding I was going to I found these 4 1/2 inch stiletto heels made by Carlos Santana's new line of shoes which I ab fab love. Well I was fine walking around the house, but got out the door and almost died going down the stairs so I had to switch to 3 inchers. I have those 4 1/2 inchers waiting until I get small enough not to want to cut off my feet after 30 minutes. 209 pounds on the toes is not easy. I can't wait!! that is so awesome. I think it's a short girl thing loving heels. I am 5'4'' also and love my heels. For now the 4 1/2 inch stilletos will stay in the bedroom only!!

Jessie - birks for me, too - I live in them! Socks and birkenstock sandals in the winter - quite a fashion statement!

Kathy - Great NSV! I can't wear heels for more than a couple of hours - and at that they're really LOW heels! I'll look forward to that one! With weight, my feet have gotten SOOOOO wide! I hope with weight loss that they aren't spread out so much. When I try to wear normal shoes it looks like Miss Piggy or ugly step sister feet!

Grats on your NSV, Kathy! I have been fat all my life and have bad ankles so I've never been able to wear heels. I'm kind of jealous! hehe

Me too! I wonder if I'll ever be able to let them go. I've been wearing them for 16 years or more (and only on my second pair!). They may not be a fashion statement, but they sure are comfy. Hm.. I wonder if we can poke holes in the straps like the guys are doing with their belts? hehe

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
