sktatey 5 Posted March 26, 2012 Hi All After the surgery I found it difficult to take any deep breaths or speak much. Now on day 6 I still find that my chest feels very bruised and if i try and yawn hurts. Can someone tell me when this feeling goes away - as i find this is almost more restrictive to me when i try and exercise (walking), than the soreness of portal area. Thanks Sarah
Sue Magoo 71 Posted March 26, 2012 Sarah: You should probably tell your surgeon about this. It will put your mind at ease and he'll probably have some helpful tips for you and he can rule out if there's anything serious going on. Take care and keep us posted. honk 780 Posted March 26, 2012 I would call the doctor asap. Blood clots in the lungs could happen after any surgery! Prebanding I had a horrible headache and just figured it was a migrane. I had never had a migrane so what did I know. Turned out it was a blood clot in the brain. So what I though was a migrane was a STROKE. Call now!!!!!! armymom2012 51 Posted March 26, 2012 I would tell your doctor, but I had the same issues as well up till about 2 weeks after surgery. I think with all the diet shock that we have to do to our bodies prior and after surgery, leaves us sometimes low on energy and I could feel every stitch during that time when I moved, nearly taking my breath away at times. Plus I was told that I had swelling that was contributing to that problem as well. Hope you feel better soon.
papoose 48 Posted March 26, 2012 You should go to the emergency room and have them do a CAT Scan of your heart and lungs. Before I had my lapband surgery I had a blood clot on my lungs and experienced the same pain you felt. I felt pressure and shortness of breath for 2 days before I finally went to the emergency room. They gave me a CAT Scan and found that I had a blood clot on my lungs. Blood clots in your lungs can kill you if it travels to your heart. Also most doctors give you a heparin shot before lapband surgery to prevent any clots. Please let us know what happens.

honk 780 Posted March 27, 2012 I had been on a bloodthinner to treat my preexisting bloodclot. They took me off that about 2 weeks presurgery and had me take asparin. I was given heparin shots at the hospital and told to resume my oral bloodthinner after surgery.
armymom2012 51 Posted March 27, 2012 I was just given it at the hospital, nothing when I left. Thank goodness, I hate needles, could not imagine giving myself a shot

armymom2012 51 Posted March 29, 2012 I had alot of issue with my bowels not working right after surgery. I ended up after two weeks, using Milk of Magnesia to get some relief. I also have to take a daily stool softner even two months later to try and stay regular or I bloat up and have abdominal pain really bad. Good Luck to ya. I had blood clots years ago in my leg and then a years later in the lung and was on coumadin for a year and half. He wanted to make sure I don't clot again. Sounds like you are constipated. Take Milk or Magnesia or I also use a tea called Smooth Move. I am now taking stool softeners also. I am having a hard time getting regular. Probably because we eat so much Protein. Good luck to you. Good Luck to ya. armymum..thats a fair while out from surgery for issues. i hear you about milk of magnesia. i tried everywhere to buy it here and couldnt find it, so i had to buy it online from America. isnt that just so rediculous?/ im sure its available but its finding it and if its not online i have no hope of doing that. im hoping to get my order next week. perhaps its me having the same issues then?? i did wonder. im still getting some gas in my bowel. its a bit hard to know, isnt it. anyway im glad im getting the milk of magnesia. i just cant understand why a great med like that would be taken off most shelves here. it doesnt make sense.
