I was banded Thursday (3/22). I am having a hard time discerning between gas pain/incisional pain/hunger pain. My surgery was outpatient. I had been taking tylenol for pain (afraid the Roxicet would make me vomit). I haven't had to take any tylenol today but the gas pain is still awful. I don't feel like I can tolerate anything more than Water, apple juice, and Tomato Soup. When did you guys introduce Protein back into your diet??...... Also.. I'm new to this site and looking forward to support :)

Hi! I was banded Friday and I'm having horrible gas pains too. The only thing that works for me is gas ex strips but I'm still having a lot of trouble burping :(

The only thing that really helped my gas pain was to walk, walk, and walk some more. In regards to your Protein intake that will come with time. It took me about a week to begin getting my protein requirements in. I would say to not push it at this time. Give yourself a good week to recover from the anesthesia. It really zaps my appetite!

I think i overanalyze everything because I'm a nurse lol. I've been struggling to drink enough fluids and had horrible diarrhea all day Saturday. I'm just trying to go with the flow and not freak out like I want to lol

I was banded on Friday too and the gas pain can be a bear. My hubby got me some gas relief pills from CVS and they helped a bit. I'm starting to think only time will get rid of the pain.

I was banded on the 19th. Walking was the best thing for me. It made a real difference. If your pain meds make you sick, call your doc to get something for nausea. I did, it helps alot!

I never took pain meds post op for the gas pain just drink Water, walk and i used a heat pad, that helped me a lot. My appetite after the op was zero so any liquids were a struggle to get down, but it gradually gets better. Just be patient and give yourself time to heal.

hi there ktlynn447... nice to see you on here. i was banded on the 22nd as well, but im in australia so i was ahead of you. so you are having some pain still?im not aware that my incisions were all that painful. the port area was very sore and it till pulls when i try to twist or move suddenly. thats because there is muscle involved with the site where the port is. Im definately still having problems with gas pain. in the first days i found it hard to lay down. now the pain has moved to my neck and collarbone and im better lying down.. lol. go figure. its definately moved though. today i havent been as well. ive spent all arvo lying down and sleeping. i got relief as well. i havent had apple juice, or Tomato juice yet. ive had chicken broth, Protein Shakes, bonox in hot water, all at about 22mls. So you were outpatient, not a day patient?? how long were you in hospital for?/ i had overnight. i needed it because of nausea and vomiting risk. It thats all you can manage in the way of liquids i think its o.k.... what do the rest think?/ my dr hasnt pushed with protein.. ive bought the powder and used it on my own initiative.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
