First df all, I'd like to say I think you are to be commended for taking steps to improving your health and I hope that you reach your goals. With regard to the THRIVE foods offered by Shelf Reliance, I'd say that it could benefit you in a couple of ways.

Because the food is always available and easily prepared, it is just as fast to prepare a delicious, healthy meal anytime. If part of one's struggle is eating junk food because it is easier to keep handy, fast to prepare, then having freeze dried food in the pantrys can definitely help. THRIVE foods are much more healthy than eating canned food. You wouldn't have to worry about High sodium content, preservatives, and eating the food before explanation dates. Because THRIVE freeze dried fruit and vegetables are poked at the peak of freshness, and because the freeze drying process helps the food to keep it's color, texture, flavor longer, these food items are full of the very things that make food good: fresh taste, enzymes, Vitamins and minerals.

The best thing about THRIVE food is that there is such a wide variety of real food that reduces the amount of prep time int the kitchen: no washing, peeling, chopping, browning needed! That is already done, and all that is necessary is for you to select the ingredients you want to use, measure how much you want, then either throw it in the recipe just as it is, or rehydrate In a little Water. For many fruitsnd vegetables, you can just pop it in your mouth straight out of the can.Yes, it is deliciousxz as a quick snack!

Every food group is offered. Imagine ordering your food online, having it delivered right to your door, and avoiding the temptation of the candy/cookie isle, the cakes, and other junk food that screams your name as you pass by! If I cankeep those high calorie foods out of your home, I can keep them off my hips!

Having lots of healthy food available can help you easily choose the right foods. You deserve to make this process as easy, and as likely to be sucessful, as possible. My family loves the THRIVE food because it is reall food, real easy!

All the best to you as you get closer and. closer to your goal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
