Lou Ann 4 Posted March 24, 2012 I had my surgery on Oct 5, 2011. The first two weeks were great. Since then it seems that certain foods I eat go right through me, and I mean RIGHT through me, with in minutes. When I called the hospital to ask them about it they said people who get lapband dont have this issue. I think i would know if I have this "issue". I cant eat cheese or fresh vegetables anymore unless I plan on staying home and close to a bathroom. I never had this issue before and I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. Its terrible to go out to eat with friends and family and be a nervous wreck the whole time hoping that if there is a problem that there is a bathroom close! Also I lost 25 lbs in the first 3 months and have lost nothing since. Anyone else hit a plateau?? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
honk 780 Posted March 25, 2012 There was another person who posted recently with similar issues. I don't know if I'm concerned about making to the bathroom; but there are definately times when I have to go soon after eating. I don't think it's the food I just ate; instead perhaps it's just the digestive system getting jump started.
zinhaa 363 Posted March 25, 2012 They would be wrong. I have lapband and am lactose intolerant. I just have soy lactaid milk or the pills.< /p> wendy
Lou Ann 4 Posted March 25, 2012 Thanks guys. Honk, I thought about that too that maybe Im still eatting too fast and the enzimes are kicking in quicker because of the band but if i eat even a slick of cheese it goes right through me. @Zinhaa, I have a fill tomorrow, my third and its with a different doctors assistant so I am going to talk to her about it too. Ill let you know what she says. What did your doctor tell you about it? Did they suggest anything to help?
sassybee 8 Posted March 25, 2012 Pre-op, I already had many food intolerances. Mainly to milk, almonds, and eggs. I am only 6 days post op, so I am still on Clear Liquids. Even being on clear liquids, I am having interesting digestive issues. I have diarrhea several times a day. My stomach is like a symphony at times. The milk intolerance is severe. Even if I can have the milk substitutes, they make me gag. I cannot hold them down. I start back to work tomorrow and thank God I am next to a bathroom.
