Liquid Diet Ideas-Help

Recommended Posts

.. i feel for you' date=' i have the same thing coming up with me im thinking. lol. sorry... i dont have any ideas yet. if i come up with any i will let you know. When you say you are trying to stay positive, but its changing your mood and attitude.. do you mean that you regret taking this step of banding?[/quote']

No I don't regret getting it at all... It's just a big adjustment that I'm trying to continue wrapping my head around. I want to succeed in the worse way, the liquid diet is just making it hard at times... This siteis great tho, whenever I feel weak or down they're always someone put me back on track. You will be fine too, if you have any questions u can always ask me, although I come to this site to find a lot of my answers. Good luck to u and keep me posted.

I haven't been a bit hungry and am post op day 3. Today I did het down 3/4 of a Protein Shake, a little Gelatin and about 1/3 cup of Tomato Soup for dinner. But if I tried to eat anything else I know I'd be miserable. My only concern is that this is around 700 calories and that seems extreme. No saline in my band either.

Mom, don't fret. I doubt I got that much down the first three days If I drank more than a couple ounces I felt like I was going to throw up. Everyone is different. I didn't feel hungry for a good six weeks. In fact, in the beginning I was taking in so little I actually got too weak to get out of bed.

I wish I was like that...I have no problem putting down about 8oz at a time. I keep the calories very low tho. That's why I was looking for something else that I could eat (drink) something with more substance. I think I average about 300-500 calories a day

My phone app said 700 but I wasn't sure either. The Jello was regular though--not sugar free. I've for to buy some sf!!!

Tammy.. i will remember to do that. like you, i want to/need to succeed in the biggest way ever with this lapband. if i dont i could end up having major heart issues, and being in a wheelchair. not much of a future. im three days post banded now, doing o.k. i do feel that im missing something solid to chew on and digest, but if i choose to ignore that, i know im satisfied. im experimenting a lot. ive lost a lot of weight in just these past three days. amazing. if you have tried something and its good, its tasty and its doable, post it, wont you... we need as much input for new ideas as possible.

I know it is hard, I am on my last week of liquids, yay!!! I try to make it creative as well, I freeze my choc Protein Shakes to make popsicles, they are good..and now I am going to try a few of the tips..The way I look at it is, my mind also needs to adjust to this, as well as my body needs to heal...Soon I will be on my own..Hang in there, I can at least have cream Soups which is a nice addition as well as drinkable yogurts!! Good luck!!

I made lots of different veggie Soups. pumpkin, mixed veg, lentil and used different herbs/spices for flavouring. They were really thick and yummy and they tasted like real food.

I do something similar. I don't cook, so it's easier for me to just buy canned Soup....whatever kind....add chicken stock or skim milk, and stick it in the Magic Bullet. It chops up any chunks and thins it out. Pop it in the microwave for a minute or two.....and dinner is served!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
