110 Pounds In Less Than 9 Months!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Just a quick note to share my excitement at hitting another mini-milestone. I can't believe I'm even writing this post!!! I just want to give hope to the newbys and people undecided about banding - you can be successful and lose a bunch of weight rather quickly like with gastric if you focus on what you're doing. I'm by no means perfect and I have been very bad about exercise - but I do stick to my 800 calories per day pretty religiously. I love you all for being there for me - you have no idea what your kind words, information and support have meant to me over the last year. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!!!

This helps me so much because I am so afraid of surgery. My surgery is April 2nd and I'm doing the preop diet now. My mind always wonders about what if something happens during surgery and their are complications. If I can get this fear out of my head and know that everything will be okay, I think I can do this. This is indeed a journey and an emotional one at that.

Congrats Allison! I can't wait to hit that 110 mark! Only 74 more to go! MyJourney and Ready2BFit...God bless you both. A little fear is natural. I was afraid too.But I prayed and God calmed my fears, as I truly believe it was divine intervention that allowed me to have this procedure. And I thank Him for it. I feel so much better already! Prayer, a good support network, and a great doctor can calm the nervousness. Best wishes to you both!

That is AMAZING....would you share what your typical diet is? I'm losing VERY slowly, and would love to see what you are eating to keep to 800 calories a day and lose so well.

I cannot eat chicken or pork, so I am limited to Steak (yes, I know that sounds odd) or tuna. It seems that my diet is very limited right now. I have only had 2 fills so far, but feeling restriction. I still get hungry every 2-3 hours. So, I would love to hear what you are eating on a daily basis

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT AND KIND WORDS!!!! A typical day of eating for me is:

Breakfast - Protein shake - AES 110 calories 17 g Protein (too tight for food in morning)

Around 11 - 50 calorie string cheese

around 1-2 = 60 calories light yogurt

Around 4 = Protein Shake 110 calories

around 6-7 dinner - varies - usually a lien cuisine = 270-350 calories (sometimes it's food from restaurant - 1 slice pizza, or 1/2 a dinner salad, or a couple triangles of cheese quesadilla - just depends - calories are about the same)

snack - a couple Cookies or some butter microwave popcorn or chips (this is my treat for the day - usually nothing healthy but limited in portion size so not bad) = 150-200 calories

i haven't always been perfect with getting all my Protein in - we're supposed to shoot for around 60 i think and i maybe get in 45-50 most days. My blood work always comes back ok and no hair falling out or anything (i've heard that on here when people aren't getting enough protein) but i definitely need to watch my protein better!!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
