I FINALLY got off of my last supper syndrome diet. Which surprises me because I don't start my liquid diet until tomorrow. I thought I would be eating everything in sight. I'm still apprehensive about the liquid diet but I feel confidant right now (huge for me). I had all if my pre-op work on Monday. My EKG came back borderline, not sure what that's about. The barium swallow was YUCKY! The only other thing I'm worried about is my CBC. If my WBC's are elevated I may have an issue. I'm sure I can show them that its normal for me. In any case, yesterday was my PCP medical clearance. No problems there. I did Zumba for the first time last night and it was a blast! I'm definitely doing it again. And again. Then they had a free nutrition class afterwards and body analysis. It's no suprise my numbers were horrid. Except my bone density. That was above average. It's ok though. That is the last time I will see those numbers. My mind flipped a switch. I'm ready, I can do this, I will do this. I used to think " I can't wait!". Now I think "no more waiting, I AM doing this"

There is all sorts of fast food places around the Zumba place, but I went home. I probably should have eaten Protein at home, but the thought of food made me sick last night. I was disgusted with food. Even healthy food.

Since I joined this site and did all of the required tests and classes I've been preparing. I've gained some confidence. Until last night I didn't have the feeling of finality. Here it is, and it feels wonderful. Ready, set, go! It's a marathon, not a sprint, but I will do it.

P.s. Someone please remind me of this when I'm starving from the liquid diet.

Did anyone else have something like this happen or was the ready, set, go accomplished when you decided to have it done?

Yes! Yesterday. Super busy at work and was able to do just 2 shakes and chicken noodle Soup. Easy on the noodles... :)

Not sure why it was yesterday but I know I can do this now and I'm fully vested. Like you, until yesterday it didn't seem real to me. Now it does. My weight went up with all the last meals, but today I'm down 2.8 lbs from Sunday.

Now I cant' wait to be one of those positive posters sharing my experience with everyone else.

Maybe something to do with Mercury? hehe I'm kidding (sorta), but the surgery is getting very close.

I'm pretty happy with being so determined, even if I am nervous. I don't like indecision. So I feel like I'm counting the minutes now.

Since I've been on the pre-op diet I keep on looking at the clock. Every hour. It's torturous. Only 272 hours left for me. Every hour I make it is an hour I am proud of. I did break down today and had 16 oz of vegetable broth. I needed something warm. Co sidering it's only 20 ish calories and I kicked my butt on the elliptical today I think I'll let it slide. Since I can have it on the clear liquid day it shouldn't be off limits right?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
