Only Seven Weeks In And I Am Already Failing

Recommended Posts

Extremely disappointed. I went for my first fill today and the doctor was not able to locate my port. I went for an Xray but I haven't got any word back yet. :(

that happened with me too hun....Sometimes it is hard to find esp with your first fill...We must of tried a dozen times to find it...then I had fill put in by xray.....I got my doctor to draw a diagram where mine is, as it is under my scar and I have to tell them everytime I need a fill!!!

You are so far from a failure its not funny!!!! I didn't have my first fill until I was 12 weeks post op and I was a freaking mess. I had lost weight but it was so hard....These early times it is all about looking after your band, letting your tummy settle from the swelling and trauma, and allowing scar tissue to grow over the band to keep her in place.....I am as I am sure most people who have the band suffer from head hunger......The really great thing is the band slows what you can eat and that full feeling really does stop you from eating things that you shouldnt BUT unlike alot of people I eat what I want too...its just cut down into smaller portions and I find low fat/sugar versions of the yummy things I love!!! It took about 6 months to find me sweet spot and then we were off like a rocket....this time I have struggled emotionally, which has made it more difficult!! good luck hun, keep us updated on your fill!!

My doctor puts the port deep so it was difficult to find the first time. He does that so that when you loose a lot of weight the port is not as noticeable. Sometimes people have to have the port repositioned after loosing weight because it is to noticeable under their clothes.

I started my weight loss journey at 415lbs. The day of my surgey I was at 362lbs. Today I am only down to 354lbs 7weeks post op. I was doing so well. I was down to 348lbs two weeks ago but I have lost motivation and my old eating habbits have come back. I find myself snacking all day long. I get my first fill Friday and I hope it helps. Did anyone else lose motivation so early on? What can I do to get back on track?

I am in the same boat except I am only two weeks post ops!! I too feel like a failure and i feel like a complete pce of crap!!!' I lost 16 the week before and after...I am now up two and a complete mess!!! I am PMSING too! I have even eat cake and chocolate !!!!

Well I am ten weeks in now and I have only lost ten more pounds. I cannot afford my fill that is now going to cost me 1200 since I have to have it done under fluoroscopy. I mess up a lot and I fall off the wagon, but I just keep getting back on. All this is so hard but I think to myself. I did this for me and even when I mess up my desire to be healthy keeps me going. Sometimes I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. Just don't give up on yourself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
