Weird Reactions From Friends

Recommended Posts

I had my band surgery April 15 of last year. I have been very successful, I have lost 80 pounds of the 100 pounds that I needed to lose. I have been so happy and been feeling so good about my self. I have two good friends that seem to be trying to bring me down. (one is thin and one is heavy) I am starting to think I am crazy. Has anyone had weird reactions from friends after their success?

I've had nothing but support from my friends and family..it's a shame they can't just be happy for you and not try to bring you down...what is with people? What kinds of things are they saying?

Hey, I was banded just two days before you! Friends don't always know how to cope when we make such major changes in our lives, especially when you have been as successful as you have.

Generally speaking my friends are wonderfully supportive, although several have now started telling me to stop losing and not lose any more weight. What the?!??! I am still obese, no longer morbidly obese. Wonder why none of them ever told me to stop gaining weight. LOL.

I guess it's just that big change I have made and they think they are being supportive. Give them the benefit of the doubt and they won't be able to drag me down,

the heavy one is jealous of you and the thin one fears you...... heavy is wanting what you have done, she probably is telling you that you made the wrong choice in WLS, but deep inside she wants it sooooo bad it's eating her up in side. The thin one was the "skinny-girl" in the group and got all the attention.... now that you are thinner you are stealing her thunder.... and she is not the only skinny-girl in the group any more and because you are feeling better about your self.... your confidence is radiating and men love a confidant woman. They are drawn to you like bees to honey...

If they are good friend and YOU choose to keep them as such, i would have a one on one chat with each and tell them up front how you are feeling and that there friendship means a great deal to you.... but you will not be subjected to the way they are making you feel. Surround yourself with positive people.

Best of luck ...... happy shrinking..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
