So i searched the forums and it seems everyone has some issue with TOM after surgery. Has anyone had a very painful TOM afterwards? I got mine a week after surgery and I have it again now. Both times I am in so much pain I want to cry, well I did a bit because I was in so much pain. And it is super heavy... Any suggestions on what I can take? I am taking liquid tylenol but that does nothing for me :(

I have an irregular and heavy period anyway...but the week after surgery mine was very very heavy and lasted like 2 weeks which is normal for me...sometimes the bleeding lasts for months actually. But its weird...idk if it's from loosing weight or what but now I haven't had it for over a month! It's so hard to tell with me what's going on...I assume though its just your body getting used to all these changes.

Sweetsoutherngirl, I had my tom about a week after surgery and swear I thought I was gonna die! I cameon here and asked about and some lady made fun of me saying the band doesn't effect ur womb. I'm not completely stupid but my body has gone thru a lot and it stands to reason to me that stress and other things can effect ur period then why not this? I was embarrassed to say anything else after that so I'm glad u brought it up

That is so mean of her. This is a place to ask questions and get some answers possibly. I know before my surgery it was not this bad and now I have had two that were horrible. I ended up taking some crushed tylenol and balling myself up in my bed until I went to sleep. I am calling my doc tomorrow. Today has been a bit better

I had ablation done late last year to eliminate my periods. I had met my yearly out of pocket co-pays with my Lap Band surgery so i figured why not? It was a very minor outpatient surgery. I still get my regular PMS symptoms (which are minor) but the horrible cramps and the bleeding are gone! I couldn't be happier, and would recommend it to anyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
