I'm actually scheduled for my band this Friday. (Having minor issues with my ins at the very last minute. -_-) For whatever reason I am obssessed with googling what can and can't be eating with the band constantly. It kinda makes me wish I had chosen the sleeve instead. I LOVEEE bread, I LOVEEE rice, I LOVEEE sushi, etc...The sleeve seems so much easier in being able to still continue to eat those foods, just in MUCH smaller portions. I know I should stay away from those foods regardless but I hate that it won't be a matter of choice with the band but a matter of getting sick n if it's worth it. Ughhh...

I have heard many say sushi is still edible with the band. Some have said whole wheat breads are a go, especially if you toast them. Cheap white bread or doughy bread just clogs the opening.

Remember that everyone has different reactions to foods; you may tolerate something that another cannot eat.

It's been 2 1/2 yrs since getting my band and I can eat whatever I want, just in very small quantities. The only thing I can't tolerate is pizza crust. I keep trying it and trying it - my band has yet to accept it. I can eat bread (only 1 small pc), Pasta, rice, meat, and everything else. Cept Pizza Crust. U might be the same way - I know there are many people that r. Good luck! I wouldn't trade my band for anything - even if it meant I couldn't eat those things again!

I've been banded 9 months with 7.6 cc's in a 10 cc band. I can eat everything pretty much as long as I don't try to drink at the same time. We are all so different so don't think just because one person can't eat certain things that you won't be able to.

That's all I could ask for!!! If I can successfully eat a couple (to a few bites) of the things I love I would be more than thrilled. Here's hoping n praying! Glad to hear u love ur band!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
