Recommended Posts

I am 4-days post op and I'm still struggling when trying to pee. Anybody else experience this? If so do you know why??

I felt like all I did was pee the first week (of course that's cause I was drinking as much Water as an elephant!)

I've found that anytime I've been under anesthesia and/or on pain meds, my bladder is slow to respond. I've had 2 c-sections and lap band and have had the same problem every time.

If you are unable to pee you need to speak to your Dr urgently. It is important that your kidneys are working properly. After my hysterectomy I was fine whilst on the drip but once they took it out I obviously wasn't drinking enough , therefore not peeing enough and the nurses were very concerned. I had to consciously make myself drink. You may not be drinking enough so make sure you drink the recommended amounts even if you are not thirsty. If you are drinking and still not peeing then get back to your Dr - fast.

Were you catheterized during your surgery? That can cause some residual problems a couple days after,

If you're having problems urinating I would contact your doctor immediately. It may be nothing, but it could be a urinary tract infection or even kidney issues too,

Whatever the case, it's much better safe than sorry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
