I had my surgery almost a year ago. I'm down 78 pounds. But, lately I am sooooo depressed. I have lost alot of hair! My hair was always one of the only things I ever liked about myself and now it's gone. I can't seem to stomach the Protein drinks anymore. I bought the chocolate unjury mix and it's good but, I take 1 sip and my stomach starts clenching. It just won't accept it anymore. I am also having a hard time wrapping my mind about not eating the way I used too. I don't know why I am having trouble now almost a year after the surgery. This weekend I have pretty much spent the whole weekend throwing up. It started Friday and has continued to today. I had fill taken out 3 weeks ago. I contacted my nutritionist and she thinks I am eating too much. She also said that I need to stop making myself throw up to feel better because I could make my band slip. I was fine for 3 weeks. I find it hard to believe that I ate too much. I only had maybe a quarter cup of egg salad.

How do you know if your band slipped? I am freaked out that I did something to my band. Why can't I get my mind under control??? I am totally losing it and have started hating that I had this surgery.

Even now I have taken a couple of sips of Water and I have gurgling. Like I have to burp. Ugh!!!!

When my band slipped, I was in pain just from swallowing my own saliva. As soon as anything went through my band, I had this sharp pain. You will know if it slipped usually unless it is a small slip that can correct itself.

I would get in to see your surgeon asap. Doesn't sound like your eating too much, sounds like you are too tight. I have had my band suddenly tighten. I bet with a small unfill you will feel much better. Sorry about your hair, you might want to see a dermatologist. I did, and he told me it was from rapid weight loss and would subside. He assured me I wouldn't go bald. He was right on both counts. Feel better soon!

Thank you for answering! I was freaking out a bit that I hurt myself. I have been taking sips of Water and there has been no pain. I am having a little acid reflux and gurgling noises but, thank God no pain. I just took a Nexium to help.

I guess one good thing with having to drink liquids for the next 2 days is that I will get over a stall in my weight loss. Trying to think positive!

Definitely go to your doctor asap. And don't eat any solids until you get an unfill. If it is partially slipped this could hurt it further. Acid reflux is a sign of being too tight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
