Buzzsaw 0 Posted March 18, 2012 I had my first meeting with my weight loss surgeon. After an exam and some questions, he went through the different surgical options. I guess because of my weight 329 and mant failed attempts to lose weight, he suggested the Gastric Sleeve. Anybody else experience this? I also must complete 6 months of meeting with a dietitian before my insurance will cover it...jeez, I was ready to book my date
highland 168 Posted March 18, 2012 That was the best part of self pay; I was in charge of the procedure, and scheduling my surgery date quickly! I tried the insurance route about five years ago which ended in them not covering it. Wish I would have paid for it five years ago!
Allison0927 329 Posted March 18, 2012 Many of our surgeons tried to talk us out of the band and into something else- same thing happened to me - they have their own personal statistics to worry about and have many incentives to want people to lose the max amount of weight - however, there was no way i was doing anything but the band and i stuck to my guns. 100+ pounds and just over 8 months later my surgeon is more than pleased. Listen to your surgeon but also listen to yourself and your instincts. Don't let anyone talk you out of the band if you were intent on having that instead of the others. 1 myjourneyagain reacted to this
