Help!! Need Some Morivation..

Recommended Posts

I know I'm only 3 days post op and on liquids but my son and husband are having pizza for lunch. I need to learn to be strong since this is a life change ...I can't expect them to stop enjoying food just cuz I have too. Maybe I'll go upstairs while they eat... I also gave another delema, my sons birthday us next week and of course the family is meeting at his favorite restaurant to celebrate... I really never realized how much of our lives are spent revolving around food.

Sorry if you think my reply is rude but... Get over it! Don't run and hide upstairs, face the rest of your life head on and start now. You have this incredible blessing of technology and opportunity with the lap band! Know that you are blessed and let everyone else go on with their lives as usual. Enjoy your family time and know that in time the pride you have in a brand new juicy body will be better than any over indulgent meal. Be confident that you can deal! Because you can.

I agree with Sandy ... except ... It took me awhile to be able to be around people eating my favorite foods. Trust your instincts and do what you need to do to succeed! There were several times I had to leave table and remove myself from temptation (pizza ... yummmm ...). My husband and two boys completely understood and as I progressed and learned different techniques I was able to be around more.

Believe in yourself and do whatever you have to in order to succeed!! :-)

I was banded on 14th march and attended my parents 50th wedding dinner on the 17th as I am on free liquids for 4 weeks I decided to have nothing bar enjoy the company. I spoke to the restaurant and asked for Soup to be thinned and mine sever when everyone was having there main course. It's a life style change. Good luck with your sons birthday

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
