One Week Post Op And Confused

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Mar 12, 2012. The first few days were tough because of the discomfort in the port area. I stayed with my liquid diet and forced every one of the Protein drinks down. I started introducing creamed Soups into my diet on day four. I am now six days post-op and have to tell you that I am beginning to feel real good. Still have discomfort around the port area and find it very hard to tie my (left) shoe because of this pain. But, all in all, I'm starting to feel great. Lost 10.2 pounds in the first six days !

Up until yesterday, eating a 1/2 cup of Soup caused me to feel very full and uncomfortable. But, as of yesterday, I'm finding that I have no problem finishing up the Soup and although I feel full, I'm not uncomfortable.

The nutritionist gave me the go-ahead to start adding very soft foods back into my diet gradually as long as I handle them okay. Today, I had a very milky bowl of oatmeal which I took my time eating. Couldn't finish it but it tasted so good and satisfying. Has anyone gone back to soft foods after one week? I don't want to cause my band to slip but I don't have my appointment with my doctor for a follow up for another five days. Thanks!

U jus described how Ive been feeling n Congrats!!

My name is Yolande. I was banded on March 8... it's been 10 days n I have lost 15lbs. I'm continuing on a liquid diet but throughout the day I might include something softer ( Soup blending all ingredients). My only problem is... I like to sleep on my stomach n find myself turning trying to find a comfortable sleeping position at night but overall that is sooo minor. I and hopefully, you too will adjust to all the positive changes.

Let's keep in touch.

My surgeon had a very quick recovery diet. I had 3 days of liquids, and 3 days of mushies, then on to normal food as tolerated. I had no issues, I just chewed very well and ate very little. He also gave me instructions to not eat if I wasn't hungry......and I never was and still rarely am hungry, so I didn't eat much. If I had hunger I probably could have eaten more, and they may cause problems, so just chew well, eat slow and don't over eat. Good luck to you on your journey!!!

Almost everyone worries about slips early on. But in reality they are pretty hard to cause. Vomiting is the biggest cause of a slip. You are feeling hungrier or able to eat more because swelling is going down.

Don't worry so much, advance your diet as allowed, and heal. You are doing great!

I'm so relieved. Thank God I remembered this site today. Didn't want to call the doctor but who better to ask than people who actually went through what I am going through. Thanks for all of your support.

muelle - I actually am quite relieved to see your progress with a not so strict surgeon. I am going through true results and they have a very strict post-op diet...but the actual surgeon that I am using has a diet just like you described...i was worried that weight loss would be affected...but you have done amazing.

Thank you so much, this was a question that I had as well. Have you had your first fill yet?

Thank you dhales :) To kbandie22, I was banded 14 months ago and have many small fills and an unfill. I am not sure how much I have in my band for sure, I lost track, but maybe around 6 or 7ccs and think I have pretty good restriction. Good luck to all of you!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
