3Rd Fill And Now I'm Really Missing Food....am I Crazy??

Recommended Posts

Ok, I went on 3/12 for my 3rd fill and prior to this I had no restriction what so ever. I could eat what ever i wanted, didn't have to worry about chewing 5000 times lol nor did I have to worry about eating really slow...Well now, I have to make damn sure I eat at turtle speed and have to really chew my food up really well or else it get stuck. The pain from that is horrific, to the point where I'm kinda scared to eat, and now I really miss being able to eat like i use to. I know I sound crazy b/c when i had no restriction i was begging for it, that's why they say "be careful what you ask for" lol...I know i'll be glad when i finally see the lbs coming off but I have to be honest with myself and say that I'm really missing my food...

I know what you mean. I've had several fills and had to be unfilled too due to being too tight. Everything I ate if not eaten very slowly, had to come back out. After being unfilled, I felt a lot better but had no restriction and ended up gaining a couple of lbs. Next week I'll be filled again. (hopefully not too tight) I need to lose 15 more lbs by summer.

IMO, this is what it is all about!! You say prior to this, you could eat anything? Well, hello....now you can't! And either can I. But you do learn all new ways of eating, new favorite foods, etc. You do get used to it. I am so used to it now I take it for granted. It has becomes normal day to day way of life.

I can walk into a room full of food, and without giving it a second thought, automatically go for the foods I want (and can) eat. If someone offers me a slice of pizza, I don't struggle. It's not a food I eat anymore. Simple.

It IS a learning process, and if you want to succeed you have to learn, even after a lifetime of bad habits.

Germaine, i was banded this past Oct and now after my 4th fill i finally have restriction. It does take time to get used to the new found restriction. I can no longer eat pizza scrambled eggs bread pancakes an so many others. BUT i can eat salad grilled chicken an a few others that i found but i am happy as long as i can get something in im good. The softer doughy things do not like me an the same as B-52 i no longer like them either. Its a learning time when we first find restriction give it time an learn your new favs. We can do this ;)

When was your last fill. Did this happen immediately after?

Sometimes, one will get stuck from the wrong foods and the band can get irritated and swollen. Then everything is a problem. Need to take all liquids for a day or two to let things calm down then start back with mushies and so forth.

But if you cannot even keep liquids down, then you need to get a small unfill. Sometimes even less than 1/2 cv can make the difference.

Sometimes I have problems even with soft foods if I take it too fast. Or too much at a time.

I am the tightest in the morning, and all I have is a shake. Sometimes that is tough to get down. Then things get better as the day goes on.

It definitely is a learning experience. After my first 2 fills I could still eat anything I wanted. When I got my third fill which was only.5 cc's I was wondering what was that going to do. But I quickly found out and I now have restriction and like everyone else said I have to chew, chew, and chew some more to make sure everything goes down. The good thing is I can still eat most things that I could before as long as I eat slow and chew my food well.

From what I've read, If you are only getting stuck when you aren't chewing well enough, you probably are not too tight. One of the things the surgeons/dieticians pound into our heads is that everything needs to be the consistency of applesauce before swallowing.

Last fill was this past Monday, and it didn't happen immediately after b/c i was on liquids for a few days, then moved on to soft foods and that's when it all started. I keep liquids down with no problem, I will see how it goes the next couple of days and I'll eat slower and chew more and see if that helps any. If not I'm calling the Dr...

No way to know what you are going through, but having a fill last moday, a few days of liquids and now experiencing what you are now sounds very typical.

You may have irritated your band, give it a rest, then resume slowly with mushie foods and working your way up.

My last fill, it took me 2 weeks before everything settled down. I like to think the band settled down but it was probably me that did the most adjusting.

There it is!

But everyone is a little different. I cannot eat burgers, no matter what the meat is. Must be something about the texture. But that's me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
