Someone please kindly give me some advise of what to do and if this normal. Also I can't burp! I have loads of wind and I hear ur at night but won't come up :( will this pass, I'm kinda regretting my decision of this surgery :( xxx

Walk as much as you are able. Take Gas-x and be sure not to use a straw or big gulps of your drinks. It will take a few days, but eventually it will go away. The walking does help. Use your pain meds if you have to.

hmmm... everytime i took a deep breath i could feel it in my back. I never laid down flat. I sat up with 6 to 8 pillows surrounding me. I walked when I felt gassy. I drank slowly and put liquids in small wine glasses.. made me feel like I was drinking something special. I slept on my back only. I stayed in bed most of the day and got up when i felt a little nausea or pain. that was my experience.. i don't know why you are having so many issues. have you talked to your docs? the good news.. is.. even though i thought i would stay miserable forever. i am 5 weeks post op , back to the gym, dancing salsa again.. and feeling pretty good. first fill is this thursday

It will go away soon. It is normal! The pain in your shoulder is excess gasses from anathesia and will dissapate. Try and walk as much as possible to get the extra air out of your body...Arms up and stretching...burping will come! Don't worry so much about the food, just try to keep fluids/protein drinks in so you don't dehydrate. You will have a lot of time to adjust to when you feel full... I didn't eat but a few spoonfuls for about a week or two after surgery. This is a huge adjustment to your body and psychologically it feels weird to not eat... It will come back. Promise! Good luck with your recovery.

Thanks to u girls who replied. I'm reading horror stories on line about the diaphragm being damaged and this pain lasting my life! Jesus I hope not!!! This night is the first night Iv felt full since surgery on Tuesday. I'm liquidizing everything and I just tried a couple of spoons of low fat custard and it was lush! And I'm full yay!!! I'm hating Soup right now! And I have another 10 days of this soup thing yet! So is the burping thing normal? I used to be such a great burper! Lol! Xx

I have also heard a heating pad provides some relief :)

You are only four days post-op. Don't regret it yet! You need to heal. The shoulder pain is the gas they use to fill the abdomen so they can see what they are doing inside. Gas-x will help it to dissipate, as will walking. Gas-x sounds odd, as the gas is in your shoulder, not your digestive tract...but it will help. It will also help the burp issue.

A heating pad did wonders for me. It was my best friend for a week. Keep taking your pain meds, don't let the pain get ahead of you. When you get to level 3 of 10 take another dose. That is what it's for. You should start "turning the corner" and feeling better tomorrow or the next day. If you had a hiatal hernia repair with your banding, a bit longer.

I completely misread your title, i thought it said help me piss! I was really concerned that you had a major problem and that you were in danger of ending up with kidney damage.

Glad that wasn't the case.

Like you, I had bad gas. not in the shoulder but behind the ribs. After calling the Doc's office a few times, I took some advice and walked the neighborhood twice daily and ate (not chewed) gas-X, by day 5 I started accepting my decision to have it done. So the pain will go away :)

Walk, walk, and walk some more! Did I mention walking? lol The worse thing you can do is lay around thinking you need the rest. Good luck!

All you can do it let time pass...gas x and walking just give you something to do but I dont really think they work. Gas x is for gas inside your digestive tract...not the stuff that is loose in your abdomen from the doc puffing you up. That being said, it cant hurt and walking is always good. The thing is you are supposed to feel like crap for a few days after any surgery...if it is even a tiny bit better every day you are fine and it will all be worth it!

My husband went. Picked up some dissolvable Gas-X strips and within hours I was passing the gas stuck.

I'm 7 1/2 weeks post-surgery, and walking still helps me if I've managed to gulp in too much air. It helped in the days after the surgery. Mine passed before I heard about the heating pad trick but I've heard that helps too. It does get a little easier each day. God Bless!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
