Stuck Not Full

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I was banded in Jan and have had 2 fills. All of a sudden I'm not feeling full, but "stuck" and then regurg. I'm waiting forever between tiny bites. Sometimes baby food barely goes down. What now? I'm hungry!

Go on liquids right away and make an appointment to see your dr. You may need to take some Fluid out. Once you regurgitate you can start to swell which will only get worse if you try to,eat. Hope this helps....

There is a delicate balance between having the right anount of restriction, and learning to eat in a whole new way.

As we progress on this journey, our eating habits MUST change dramatically!

I have no idea what you may be going through. But as someone previuosly said, the band gets irritated and you need to calm it down with liquids for a day or two.

Then you either need to call your Dr., or start over being very careful WHAT and HOW you eat.

You may be too tight and have to get a unfill. I have no idea.

I will say my band is tight. And the way I eat now cannot compare to the way I ate 1 year ago. This can be a very hard lesson to learn and there is never anyone around to help you with it. So the easy thing is to get a unfill.

IMO, some people never get it. Not saying you, just in general. Some never find that perfect groove.

Get to your doctor. Worst will happen is you'll start going to slider foods which aren't the healthiest but go down easier. Then you'll see your weight loss halt. I promise!

Hi Larch! Slider foods include (but not limited to) ice cream, chocolate, mashed potato, crackers... Foods that go down ..and through..your band with NO restriction. They "slide on thru" and can allow you to gain weight :(

So new friends.. My "stuck" issue was me eating to fast and too much. I went back to my baby spoon with 2 oz measured food at the table with no distractions. What do ya know...  (leaves of change..lol)

Thank you. So, I guess I can consider the foods I'm eating now as slider foods. Good to know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
