I have a question for everyone that has been banded. How long did the soreness last? I mean how many days after surgery was it before the soreness was completely gone?

mom of 3 :)

I'm hopeful that it will nit last long

Walk around and take the pain meds. Thats all that will help. Just keep walking.

Eggzy, my gas pains are all but gone today. Something that seemed to help me was laying down with my legs propped up higher than my chest. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Got banded yesterday, all went well not too much pain, did alot of walking. Woke up 3:25 this morning needing pain meds, took then an hour later started throwing up. Called Dr. now back at the hospital, xray was good. Getting ready for surgery to remove Fluid from port. Too tight for even Water to get thru.

yikes! Can't just remove the fluid without surgery? poor thing. Let us know how you're doing.

well, I'm down a size in jeans! Just barely - and I wouldn't say all 18's fit, but these I'm wearing today do. Woo hoo.

Today's the day! I'm scared and freaking out a bit. Especially after the posts yesterday. I know this will all be worth it in the end though! Thanks for every1's encouragements. I will let you all know as soon as I can!

Got down about half cup of beef broth..a 4oz Italian ice...and 6oz of water...took about hour to get thru it. Surgeon came in to check on me...asked if I was keeping it down I said yes..she said go home! This after telling me I would prob stay two nights..so I'm thrilled. Waiting for hubby to get here..should b gone in about an hour. Can't wait to get home.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
