I am also on the 30th and started my pre op diet early. I was worried I hadn't lost enough weight on my scale I lost 3 lbs, I happend to have gyno appt and that was also only 3 pounds yet when I went to surgeon I had lost 8 all these weigh ins were the same day. So I don't know which scale to believe my surgeon even told me I could stop the diet which I have somewhat done. Anyway don't worry too much something is better than nothing.

I babysit as my job, but did take next week off simply cuz of the driving, its 25 miles round trip plus driving kids to and from school...my steering wheel rubs right up against my stomach so this way if im too sore, i wont be forced to drive.

My stats...started preop on 3/30 with the intention of being banded on 4/12. The surgery was pushed back a week was actually banded on 4/19 (last Thursday). Anyway...weighed in at 234.4 the day I started preop (mind you I'm 4'11")...day of surgery was 217, today 5 days post op I'm 211.8...difference of 22.2 lbs from 3/30. Of course the last few lbs are probably muscle and I have zero energy...but hey I havent lost 22 lbs in forever. Hope to be in onederland in a bit...havent been there in probably about 7 years.

What has everyone been given for pain? I am just curious. I have a prescription for Reprexain (hydrocodone and Ibuprofen mix) plus Zofran for nausea. I also have to take Amend (anti-nausea med) the morning of surgery, take two IV meds for nausea and a Scopolamine patch behind my ear. He doesn't want that band coming loose from vomiting! Anyone else get this much nausea medicine? It must work because none of his patients ever throw up after surgery.

I was in a lot of pain, and after maxing out on the codeine, the clinic recommended that I go to the hospital for assessment. The doctor there said that I was being given enough to help a 100 pound person, not an adult. I don't even have to take 1/3 of the recommended morphine dose to be completely pain free.

Well, lab tests came back cancerous, actually only 5 other reported cases type of cancer, but non aggressive. So heading to oncologist for tests and if they come back clear I shall be banded may 24th. Talk about a hiccup! But on the bright side...my surgeon is getting to know me well! I am dubbed the surprise girl!!! Lol! Life is sooo funny!

Congrats to all other April bandsters who made it through!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
