Got "the call" from the surgical center telling me when to be there - what to bring' date=' etc...

Bring DL and Ins card, socks for your feet, pillow for the car ride home. Wear loose clothing, no metal on your body, no jewelry, no contact lenses. If ride home will be more than an hour, bring pain meds with you to take before you leave the hospital.

NPO after midnight the night before. Be there at 11:15, surgery @ 12:15 - plan to be there between 3 and 4 hours.[/quote']

Thanks for posting this...I go Thursday and I forgot about some of this stuff.

Creamy cauliflower Soup (My recipe)

1 large or 2 small bags frozen cauliflower florets

2 cups low sodium chicken broth

1 medium onion diced

1/4 cup cream

1/4 cup low fat sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)

salt and pepper to taste

In a dutch oven' date=' saute onions using olive oil cooking spray until soft. Add cauliflower and mix well. stir in broth, cover and let cook until pot comes to a rolling boil. Remove from heat. (I have a hand held emulsion blender, so I use that, otherwise us a blender in batches) Blend broth and cauliflower mixture until smooth. If using a blender, once blended, pour contents back into pot, sprinkle in cheese and cream, mix well until cheese is melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

To me it taste like cream of potato soup...and is very filling.[/quote']

Yummy!

After Clear Liquids I get creamy soups...after day 3 for me. This sounds like it would fit that criteria. Id make sure it is pretty soupy though especially initially.

By day 3 I was allowed creamy Soups. But I would definitely clear with your doc. You can always add extra broth to thin it out and also strain it. I like the consistency of it, it feels good going down (if that makes sense.) For me, cold stuff just isn't as easy to digest right now, so the warm Soup, has been a lifesaver!

My surgery is in 3 days and while I've been fine, I'm suddenly a bundle of anxious nerves... thinking about taking a xanax and going to bed! ugh...

The surgery was a breeze! Don't worry to much. They usually give you something to relax before you go in. And you won't be awake for the surgery lol. They keep the area numb after the surgery. Just make sure you have someone there to get your meds after because that week after its really important to have your pain managed. You will heal better that way and faster! Just take it easy for a while. You will be fine. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
