Mara005 70 Posted March 16, 2012 How much did you have to lose? And how did you do it?
throughthelookingglass 7 Posted March 16, 2012 Hi Mara my dr didn't give a specific weight loss amount but I lost 10kg. The idea he said was to reduce Fluid and fat off the liver so they can lift it during surgery without it breaking or tearing.
lovebug17 13 Posted March 16, 2012 I wasn't giving an amount to lose but I was put on a high protien diet and lost 17 lbs before surgery and I'm 3 days post op and am down 22 lbs now ... Just had to drink 5 protien shakes and day and 2 cups of veggies it was hard but I can't believe I lost so much in 2 weeks !

Cocoabean 430 Posted March 16, 2012 Are you talking about during a 6 month supervised diet or the 2 week pre-op?
Mara005 70 Posted March 17, 2012 Are you talking about during a 6 month supervised diet or the 2 week pre-op? The doctor at the seminar said that everyone is required to lose weight before surgery and for him it's based on your starting weight but I have heard about people needing to lose a % of their weight. I was just wondering what others had to do.
Jepegurl 23 Posted March 17, 2012 My doc didn't tell me I had to lose weight during my pre op week of clears and Protein Shakes but the goal he wanted was for my liver to shrink. A friend of mine who saw a different surgeon had to do just 3 days of clears and Protein shakes. I can't imagine 2 weeks of it.
