Hello everyone,

This my first time here. I live in Europe, I'm 40 years old, had my lap band surgery a year ago. Unfortunately I didn't lost as much as I would have expected (approximately 10 Kilos - I promise I'll look for a place where I learn to convert kilogrammes to pounds).

I found this great place of yours, filled with extremely useful information and ideal for sharing so many experiences, when I was researching on how many ccs it is still possible to fill in my band. I now have a total of 6cc in my band but I still feel that food goes through too quickly and in too big quantity.

So many of you here are doing such a great job with your bands! hopefully, that will work as an inspiration for me too!

Thanks,

niki

Hi Niki! Welcome to LBT. Do you know what kind of band you have? If you have the VG Inamed band I know that many people have filled that to more than 6cc to get good restriction. Have you tried to get more fill?

Nice to meet you! :)

Hiyas Niki! So glad you found us.. welcome!

Alex is right, we were just reading about the difference between the bands last night (on Inamed's site) and they say the first fill should be 4cc to begin restriction. You might just need a bit more. Keep working with your doc and you'll find just the right restriction.

I don't know my conversions well either, but I've been told the average weight loss is right about 2 pounds per week. How long have you been banded?

Hi there,

Thank you so much for making me feel welcome to LBT!

All this information sharing is really precious for me and I've been learning a lot here! :clap2:

I'll be asking my doctor (I'll be seeing him in May) what type of band I have. I already started a list with all sorts of questions and doubts for him to clarify.

It's rather frustrating not feeling any restriction whatsoever. At least I try to eat healthy and I go two or three times a week to the gym, but I always feel depressed when I get on the scale as I'm almost sure that nothing much happenend from last time (I get on the scale every two weeks or so).

Anyway, I won't quit so I guess the only thing to do is keep fighting this damned overweight till I finally find my «sweet spot» (I didn't know the expression, but surely sounds wonderful! :biggrin1: )

It's a pleasure to meet you,

I'll see you around,

niki

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
