In reference to actual fill, it doesn't really hurt. I've had numbing before and it's not necessary. To me doesn't hurt no more than getting blood drawn. I feel the prick of needle but other than that they hit bullseye of your port. I've had fills lying down and standing up. Experienced doc fill takes all of 30 seconds, u get a bandaid and out the door u go. My port is in my belly slightly to left above my belly button. Afterwards area will be a lil tender but that's all

I had my first fill yesterday. It is the highlight of being lapbanded. up until yesterday the only thing holding me back from the all you can eat buffet was me. Now its me and my lapband...we're going to be good buddies and I'm thinking of giving her a name. She is nothing like my evil sister who whispers in my ear "overeat"... she is more like a guardian angel who says... "slow down, that's enough"...a fill is restriction. It feels like a little ball in your throat and a tiny pressure in your chest that sends the message to your brain that you've got to slow down, you've got to experience your eating, and you have to think about your relationship with food. Try to shovel it in like the old days and your lapband will growl at you. I have a little needle phobia.. but when it came to getting this fill, knowing this is the reason we get a lapband.. i pulled up my tshirt and said let 'er rip...I didn't come this far to be a little fraidy cat over a simple pin prick....Your fill IS YOUR LAPBAND.....its the day you can take a little deep breath and say, "yes finally here's the help I 've been waiting for." Down 25 pounds....on my own.... the next 30 I have an angel to help me. (I think I'll call her Sophia.... I've always liked that name.)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
