Ate A Full Burger And Fries! Help!!

Recommended Posts

Well,my last appointment I got an unfill, now I have little to no restriction. My head hunger is big right now. I think my mind is saying eat everything you can before you get the fill. I have been working out really strong so I don't feel so bad about eating, but dang. I ate a burger with both pieces of bread and fries! I have not been able to eat a full bread sandwich since fill #3. Has anybody ever went through this? Did you damage anything? I know binging is bad, but once in a while could I have damaged anything?

I'm sure you know that many hamburgers have 3500 calories, and you'd have to run just about a

Marathon to burn that off. I think that as long as you're aware of that and don't do it often, you'll

be OK. A lot of super strong willed people will disagree, but if we deny ourselves everything, we'll

have a much harder time of succeeding. That said, if I overindulge, I work extra hard the next few

days or weeks to make up for it. I try to average 1 to 2 pounds a week. If I miss a week, I try to

lose twice as much the next week or two. This band cost $45K and I can't let that go to waste.

Corrigan, where do u get ur burgers that have 3500to calories? Even the double red robin cheeseburger has 1200. A Carls Jr Famous Star with cheese has about 700. I think that's the average. 8 don't think I would touch the burger that has 3500a calories! Good grief

Why did you get a unfil? With a unfil, it is as though everything is as it was when you first started, except you did not learn anything since then.

No one can help you, only you know what you have to do.

45k does sound high - mine was 31K though so (insurance covered like 80%). Anyway - if i were you i'd rush and get that fill put back in - don't want to risk undoing all the good you've done up til now. ;)

"take everything in moderation, even moderation itself" Not my saying but I like it. It means it's ok to screw up every once in a while.

Don't beat yourself up about one mistake. As long as it was only one mistake. You recognize that you slipped up. Why else would you post it? I have thought, as I've been sitting in front of a burger and fries, I want to eat this whole thing. But my band and beginnings of self-control keep me from doing it. Mostly the band. Do what the others say and try to do better today and each day after that.

As for the 3500 calorie burger, maybe at heart attack grill. Know they pride themselves on serving up the bad stuff. Mine usually runs around 500-640.

I must have got the generic band cause mine was only 9600. If you are unfilled for whatever reason, you need to treat it as your bandster hell time and use as much will power as u can. Even if you can eat a whole hambuger and fries doesnt mean u should. I know with me, once I start down that road it would be hard to stop again. I have learned alot over the past year, but I trying that stuff would pull a trigger.

good luck and try to get refilled soon if possible.

Can you cause your band to slip if you overeat a lot? Or if you take big bites?

You're right, I don't know where I got that idea. A double whopper w/fries is only 2000 calories.

As to the fills, with fluoroscope, they're $5010, (at a major

LA hospital), I haven't had one yet.

To many people who go there, money isn't important (I'm not one), I was referred by my doctor and

the standard of care was as good as it could have been, although rather expensive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
