I just had my post op appointment over the phone. Based on how you are doing they decide if you need to come in or not. I am good to go. The nurse said one week from today I should be on a normal diet eating anything except raw veggies and doughy breads!! YES!!! I am only 9 days post op and am already eating so much and doing so well. Last night I had enchiladas. I pretty much just ate the filling and not the corn tortilla, but I did have a couple bites of it. The refried Beans were awesome! Granted, in total the amount of food I ate was probably 1/2- 1 cup of food, but still I felt normal and it wasn't pureed. I just chewed every bite really well. The chips and salsa were hard to pass up but I did it!!

The nurse also schedule my first 3 fills. The first being April 16th. Hooorraay!! The day after my birthday!! Lap Band life is GOOD!!! Thanks for letting me celebrate!

I am so glad you are excited and MOTIVATED! That's the most important thing of all.

Just be aware, you hve yet to go through BANDSTER HELL. A period where you are getting byour scheduled fills, butare not there yet, and you have to fight the hunger on your own using willpower and self determination jast as you have in the past before the surgery.

But be assured, you will get through it and your life will be changed!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
