I have only had two drinks since surgery (4wks ago), and one time I ordered a Skinny Margarita, and the second I ordered white wine. It is tricky though because you can't drink when you eat, and you can't drink 30 minutes prior, so I had a hard time figuring it out. I found that I was just holding the drink and not even drinking it, but I still felt like I was part of the group, so it worked out! I hope it helps!

I have had margarita's with no problems, however I don't hardly even get a whole one down. I also don't do it often, probably since surgery which was about 9 months ago I've only had maybe 4 or 5 drinking occasions. Have fun on your vacation!!

My new favorite is Long Island teas no ice no coke. Be careful 1 you will be fine, 2 and you will not need to drive, but 3 and you probably wont remember where you are lol They are mean.

How long after surgery did you guys wait to have your first drink . I'm going away next weekend for a friends birthday and wasn't sure if it was too soon I had my surgery on Tuesday and I would be just under two weeks out . I don't wanna ruin anything and I really don't need to but if one glass of wine won't kill me then why not.

Just be very careful and after you drink the wine try to drink a good amount of Water to flush the pouch out. I would be a bit worried about letting the acidic wine sit in a fresh pouch. Could cause some irritation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
