Was banded 9 days ago and did great the first 4 or 5 days but since then I have been hungry all the time! I have eaten so many things I shouldn't have simply because I do not feel any restriction now. I'm so disappointed in myself! Ugh! Has anyone else been through this?

I remember how hungry I was too. I made it through 12 days before I got the ok for soft foods. Have you tried some sugarfree pudding? Maybe something like that will help you through until you were given the ok to start food.< /p>

I went through kinda the same thing and had to stop. They told me if you eat to soon that the band may slip and that is the last thing that you want. And i know that it is so hard not to eat right after but you can fight off the hunger and most of the time its really a head thing and bad habits coming up again. Just drink something when you feel hungry drink a Protein Shake with milk that helped me or pudding or some Jello. But you can not eat there is really a reason they tell you this and i had to be taken back to the doctor to hear it and i got that i didnt want to be back with slipping. Trust me you dont want to hurt yourself and there is a reason we all got this surgery. If you ever need any help you can message me and i will try to help you. Good luck and remember its ok to have a Protein shake every time you feel hungry!!

It sucks big time. I went 4 weeks on liquids- it was hell. My doctor doesn't allow us to start on mushie food until the 5th week after surgery. That was a LONG month!

Though not liquids, I was allowed yogurt and sugar free pudding on the liquids phase. V8 also makes some shockingly good cream style Soups, so I ate those a lot as well. Oh and runny oatmeal helps, too.

I know it's hard but stick with it. This time is for healing not weight loss, so just drink when you need to and remind yourself you're trying to give yourself time to heal.

so you are having more than just Clear Liquids? was there any fill put into your band when you had it put in?

My doctor said to do mushy foods starting on day 8 so I am eating soft stuff. My band was not filled at all when it was put in. I still have 2 more weeks until my 1st fill.

Thank you all so much for your responses. It is so good to know others have struggled too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
