Hi everyone, its been awhile since ive been on here, well here is the story, i lost my job last year and how things are going in michigan i have been unable to secure a job, plus i have no health insurance, well i have lost a total of 40 lbs since my surgery last year, but ive hit a wall, i fluctuate between 191-195 i havent been to my docs for about 4-5 months now because i cant afford the self pay right now, but im wooried that maybe i have a slipped band, some days i feel like i can eat anything with no problems other days everything seems do bother me,ive had a cough latly but not sure if this is reflux related or just the crud thats going around,a couple of weeks ago i went to florida and new orleans with some friends who footed the trip for me to i could get away and try to destress, we had a great time but we ate out alot and i had a few episoded of vomiting now since ive been home im just freaked that i may have a slipped band and i have no money to go to the docs or get an upper GI as im still paying on the last one i had, i dont know what to do. i dont want to lose my band! i have like 40 more pounds to go, but i dont want to go back to how i was before, any advise?

Ive heard of different people trying the "pouch diet". If you search it here, I am sure you will find many links for it. Good luck!

The five day pouch test its called...its really not a test but rather a way to let your body recover if you have been vomiting or overeating...I think you need to see your doc even if you have to get a second job , borrow from someone,or use a credit card...this is a matter of your health and will not be solved on the internet!

You probably would know if your band slipped. Last year all during the week I was fine. I woke up on Thursday morning, and it hurt bad even to swallow my saliva. I thought it was just me. It didn't go away, and I had reflux off and on so I went to the doctor Friday. He took all my Fluid out. I went back later for fluro, and it had prolapsed. Thought it would correct itself, but it didn't. I had got down to my goal weight, but have gained a little back since then. I had mine repositioned last Thursday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
