I just had my surgery today march 13th and yes I'm having the sharp pains in chest making it hard to take a deep breath. I've not figured out yet how to fix it. :(

I haven't had surgery yet but from what I've read on here you need some gas-x strips, sounds like the awful gas pains they talk about. Walking is good too, so sounds like you're doing that. I've also read a heating pad helps too. Good luck, hope you guys feel better soon!

I had mine on the 7th. If you read more on here you will see everone goes through the " what the hell did I do to myself" stage. The pain is bad for 2-3 days. Try to take a lot of deep breaths. And if you get up you have to use your arm and legs, don't use your stomach muscles. Then comes the gas.... The milk of magnesia worked way better for me than the gasx. Just take 1 tbsp 2 times a day. Don't take the pain meds too long cause they cause Constipation. I an now dealing with a horrific rash from being allergic to the dermabond. Finally got a script today for steroid pills. Hopefully my "hell" will end soon!!! Good luck and hang in there!

Its gas pain...windmills with your arms and walk, walk, walk. When you're sitting, put a heating pad on your back and alternate with it on your chest. GasX and/or MOM. Mine lasted for about 2 weeks...thought I was having a heart attack

I had a spirometer after surgery that I had to use and my Lord it killed me. I couldn't breathe in deep either and I was so afraid that I'd get pneumonia or something. Gas X and walking didn't help much, it took a couple of weeks but the gas pain finally went away. For months afterwards, if I ate too much I'd get a horrible pain in my left shoulder similar to the gas pain. Finally that went away after my last 2 fills.

It'll eventually go away, it sucks in the meantime though. Good luck and congrats on your surgeries!!

Today is also my third day post op and I don't have any more gas pains. I use a heating pad anytime I lay down and I was using 3 gas x strips about 3 times a day and that worked for me I haven't taken any gas x today.
