Bcbsil How Long For Approval?

Recommended Posts

My paperwork should have been submitted today, now I'm obsessing about hearing back! How long did it take for you to get your approval?

I got mine in less than 18 hours after it was faxed over to BCBS this was about 2 months or less ago. I live in Illinois. My best advice is to call them! Call them, and of course call them! I called them at least twice between those few hours to make sure that they got everything that was needed. My surgery day is set for tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. and I am soooo happy / nervous / omg it is finally here!

Mine took 5 days it was denied cause they "accidently" inpatient, so they resubmitted again on Friday to say out patient, that was the only reason y they denied, so hopefully I will get approved

I am just starting this whole process with this and cant wait. I began this all about 2 years ago and got so frustrated with the Insurance that I gave up and went back to yo yo dieting. guess what? I gained MORE weight!! Alas finally BCBSIL has changed their Medical policy and most of the hoops i was struggling with are non existant. I go to see my surgeon for a consult on the 24th, see my psychologist on the 17th and have an appt with my PCP to order my labs for tomorrow.

I am nervous as I have never had a surgery..Please tell me that is normal!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
