Hi Roger,

Not sure what type of help your asking for, but I am also 3 weeks postop. I am just now moving into mushies foods. My doctor wanted me on thin liquids for the first 3 weeks. What type of foods are you eating? Are you having difficulty or something?

Hi Roger!

Hang in there! The way my doc explained it to me is that immediately after surgery your stomach will swell, so you may (or may not) feel some restriction. But after that swelling goes down, the band isn't actually restricting anything... it's just a loose belt around your stomach, it's not tightened or anything.

Most of us are on special diets for the first 3-6 weeks. Around 6 weeks we get our first fill (hopefully).

Until then, I think we all could eat the house!! At least I know I could! :)

Anyway... don't know if any of that helped, but consider yourself to be in the healing phase for 6 weeks. Ease up on yourself & start learning to take small bites, chew well, don't drink with meals, and listen for your body's signals telling you when to stop. (Not that I've learned any of this, lol, but I'm trying! :()

Welcome to the board!

Hi, Jacqueline from Oz here, i am 10 weeks banded now, have just had my first fill yesterday, i managed to lose 9 kilos without a fill, but i had to work hard, what i do is i make my meals to fit into a dessert bowl and try not to eat more that that, then i drink loads of Water to fill me up,if i get the munchies i will have 1-2 weet-a-bix in a cup of hilo milk, and try to drink my tea black with lemon, no sugar, good luck,

Jacqueline from Oz, xxxxxxxxxx

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
