Oncology Check Up-Cancer Free 21+ Years-Now To Be Thin Again!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just came home from my annual oncology check up and am cancer free 21 years (22 in October:)!!!

Now, I am want to pursue being slender again and am strongly considering lapband surgery. Although I exercise almost everyday (60 minutes cardio), I just can't seem to get the weight off and I am not getting any younger-ahem!

My BMI is about 32.8 but I do have high blood pressure which I take meds to control. I'd like to lose about 65 lbs. Of course, I'd like to have insurance cover this....any suggestions?

I might be willing to self-pay....Mexico anyone? Please advise...I am anxiously awaiting.

Love to all of you with such great courage!

My BMI is under 35 , but I do have high blood pressure; my insurance recently approved me. I had to provide medical documentation proving I had "dieted" under the supervision of my of doctor for two years. When I first started the process, my BMI needed to be >35. However, last fall, the BMI requirement was lowered to >30.

If I were you, I would call my insurance company and ask if bariatric surgery is a covered benefit. If it is, I would next inquire about the criteria for coverage.

It's great that you have been cancer-free for 21 years!
