Feeling A Little Weak And Dizzy In The Morning..........

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I just wanted to touch base on a few things I have been feeling to see if it's the norm or not. I'm a week out post op and doing awesome!!!! But for the past few days I have noticed that I am a little weak and dizzy in the morning. I am eating correctly, drinking my shakes, and taking my Vitamins. It does pass after I eat Breakfast.

Any info would be great! Thanks and have a lovely day!

I am not a medical professional. My guess is your blood suger is low. My surgery was long ago. Recently I got up in the morning and waited to eat until I decided whether to go to the gym (trying to plan my hour post eating before I could drink water). Long story short it was now 12:00 noon and I have not eaten since 6:00 the night before. I stood up quickly to answer the door and thought I was going to pass out!

I am six weeks post-op today and the weakness and dizziness was the absolute worst part of the surgery for me!! The first two days post-surgery I was fine. By the night of the third day post-op I was feeling really bad. I was so weak and dizzy on the 5th day post-op that I was convinced something was terribly wrong and I called the doctor and went to the ER!! My 7th day post-op was my first day back at work and I thought I was going to die I was so weak, dizzy and nauseated! After that 7th day, though, I have felt much, much better. I'm no longer having any problems with weakness, but I still get dizzy occasionally when I stand up. Hang in there, it gets better!

It sounds like u have low sugar of a morning which many do on the post op liquids, i suggest u have a drink of milk or drink milk mixed with yoghurt before u sleep the few carbs that are in milk products will help balance your sugar a little overnight as they slow release .. no harm in trying anyways :)

ii wonder if your sugar levels are just a little lower that time of day?? im no expert but i know what low sugar levels do to me. At least it goes when you eat breakfast. it does sound like you are low.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
