Am I Close To The Green

Recommended Posts

So I just got my second fill 1week ago, the first one done nothing this one has not curbed my appetite but I can tell I had a fill because I have to eat MUCH slower and take little bites, so my question is am I almost to the green zone? She said to call her in 2 weeks if I need another fill. So should I be getting full faster because ican tell I have some restriction? I'm just not sure what's going on...I would think since things are getting stuck I would be close to green but I'm worried why I'm not feeling full with small amounts.

You will know when you are in the green zone! Yes, you will eat slowly and feel full on smaller amounts (learn to listen to your body, learn your soft stop signals such as hiccuping or burping). The other great thing about the green zone is that you will then feel satisfied for longer periods of time - but the real challenge here is to learn to differentiate between actual hunger and head hunger (you, that state that drives us to emotional eating!) You will also be losing weight.

The green zone doesn't have to include negatives like getting stuck or vomiting. You can have those symptoms without being in the green zone and if you eat well and take care, you won't suffer them in the green zone.

Good luck.

Getting stuck is not necessarily linked to good restriction, it has more to do with the way you eat and what u are eating, i know i need a small fill because of hunger pangs after eating but i still get stuck sometimes due to my eating too fast, accidentally swallowing to big bites, or sometimes food just sticks on one day and not on another :) if u are getting hungry and still eating more than u should then maybe another small fill will help. Best to discuss this in another fill appointment ..

I have been in the Green Zone for some time now. And I have NEVER FELT FULL.

Maybe it's a play on words, but feeling full is the same thing as it was after a Thanksgiving dinner, or a trip to the Buffet. it is the "I'm Stuffed" feeling.

If that is what everyone is looking for, you're not going to find it.

Under the definition of "Green Zone" it never says anything about feeling full. What it does say is you will be "Satisfied"

It is more behaviour, a mental thing. Since being banded, have you ever sat down at a meal, taken 2-3 bites and said "I finished, I have no desire to continue"? Well, that's what your band does. It sends a signal to your brain that "You are satisfied" Finished...no reason or desire to continue.

When this happens, don't force it. Listen to your band! Don't get hung up on "Am I getting enough Calories in?"

When the band say stop, you don't want or need to eat, then don't! This is also the signal that takes away your hunger cravings, etc, if you start practicing to listen.

It is as though the band sends the signal to you brain that you are full, and you do not need to continue, but physically you're not full. You may not have had anything to eat at all! But your brain says you have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
