Ready2BFit 33 Posted March 13, 2012 Well a year ago they found a knot but there was nothing and I haven't been back since. I'm thinking about going back after my surgery. Just want everything to be fine.
NWgirl 574 Posted March 13, 2012 I would just be worried about thyroid cancer. I have heard about having thyroid removed if it starts growing too much. The remedy for this is to take synthroid to make up for the lack of function.
Grider 92 Posted March 13, 2012 Dont play with thyroid- your body needs it to function normally and it is one silly little cheap pill a day to keep you in perfect running cond,
mrsclooney918 47 Posted March 13, 2012 I had a parathyroid issue that had to be fixed before insurance would approve the other surgery. It's amazing how that gland controls so much.
Lluna 14 Posted March 13, 2012 I actually have 3 thyroid nodules (lumps) and I had lots of issues before my lab band, and for which I'm under the supervision of an endocrinologist. He use to see me every 3-6 months to order blood work and ultra sound. The last time I saw him I was already down like 45 lbs and he notice from the ultra sound that my nodules had reduce in size, and I have no more synthoms. And now he doen't have to see me for another year. I agree with the other posts, don't wait and go and have it check by a good endocrinologist.
ElizabethAnne 40 Posted March 13, 2012 I have hypothyroidism and take Synthroid daily, and I was approved. My endocrinologist did tell me at my last appointment to let her know if I have surgery and lose weight. She said she might need to adjust my medication. andrea0121 28 Posted March 14, 2012 Samsies. I only have a little bit of my thyroid left after surgery and take synthroid daily. I'm going to echo what everyone else has said, get your rear end to see your GP or an endo and get that checked out. My goiter was so big they couldn't get a proper biopsy on it so they ended up taking it and most of my thyroid out to be on the safe side (cancer safe side). Ready2BFit 33 Posted March 16, 2012 Thanks everyone. On yesterday I talked with my new PCP and he stated he didn't feel anything but still wanted me to see a specialist. I just want to make sure everything is okay and my health is fine all the way around.
Mel1098 2 Posted March 16, 2012 Has anyone had the band that has thyroid disease? I had the RAI treatment done several years back and have been on thyroid meds ever since. My levels have never got back to normal nor have I felt like the old me since I had that done. My surgery is scheduled for April 6 and I'm kinda concerned about my thyroid issue and the band not helping me.
