Well a year ago they found a knot but there was nothing and I haven't been back since. I'm thinking about going back after my surgery. Just want everything to be fine.

I would just be worried about thyroid cancer. I have heard about having thyroid removed if it starts growing too much. The remedy for this is to take synthroid to make up for the lack of function.

Dont play with thyroid- your body needs it to function normally and it is one silly little cheap pill a day to keep you in perfect running cond,

I had a parathyroid issue that had to be fixed before insurance would approve the other surgery.

It's amazing how that gland controls so much.

I actually have 3 thyroid nodules (lumps) and I had lots of issues before my lab band, and for which I'm under the supervision of an endocrinologist. He use to see me every 3-6 months to order blood work and ultra sound. The last time I saw him I was already down like 45 lbs and he notice from the ultra sound that my nodules had reduce in size, and I have no more synthoms. And now he doen't have to see me for another year. I agree with the other posts, don't wait and go and have it check by a good endocrinologist.

I have hypothyroidism and take Synthroid daily, and I was approved. My endocrinologist did tell me at my last appointment to let her know if I have surgery and lose weight. She said she might need to adjust my medication.

Samsies. I only have a little bit of my thyroid left after surgery and take synthroid daily.

I'm going to echo what everyone else has said, get your rear end to see your GP or an endo and get that checked out. My goiter was so big they couldn't get a proper biopsy on it so they ended up taking it and most of my thyroid out to be on the safe side (cancer safe side).

Thanks everyone. On yesterday I talked with my new PCP and he stated he didn't feel anything but still wanted me to see a specialist. I just want to make sure everything is okay and my health is fine all the way around.

Has anyone had the band that has thyroid disease? I had the RAI treatment done several years back and have been on thyroid meds ever since. My levels have never got back to normal nor have I felt like the old me since I had that done. My surgery is scheduled for April 6 and I'm kinda concerned about my thyroid issue and the band not helping me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
