It is the point where you are satisfied on a small amount of food and can go about 4 hours between your meals before feeling hungry. I am still searching for it! Hoping tomorrow's fill will do it.

Thank you! I am a little nervous about how long it will take me to get in the green zone. From my understanding it will be about 5 to 6 weeks before I get my first fill. Is that correct?

I had my first fill 5 weeks post surgery. Some people get there quick, unfortunatley not the case for me! But I try and follow the rules and have done quite well. Except I have been struggling this last month, up and down the same few pounds. The lapband definitley isn't the easy way out, it still takes work.

Getting there depends on your docs fill schedule. Some give as little as a half a cc every 4-6 weeks in which case you have many months of wondering what your band is doing in there, if anything. This time is called Bandster Hell. If you have time I recommend reading this blog from start to at least the point where you are in your journey...shes a wonderful person who lost 100 pounds in a year and never dieted or exercised. She will answer questions you havent even thought of yet!

For me I had three fills which put me at 6cc in a 10cc band and that was my first green zone. I lost weight pretty easily there but the band loosens up as you lose the fat that is actually on your stomach. My second green was at 7.7cc and that landed me at 155 pounds. I really wanted to get to normal BMI (145) so I got a tiny fill of 0.3cc and I got to 140 in about 3 months...My weight doesnt fluctuate at all now and I am crazy happy!

Please ask us anything! This is a great site!!!

I am very lucky that I hit the Green Zone after only my second fill. I only have 3cc in my 10cc band, yet I'm stuffed after very little food and have no problems going 4+ hours between meals without hunger.

For the record, my doc tried to put 3cc in on the first fill, and I couldn't swallow Water so he took 1cc back out. Second fill, he tried to put in 2cc and again had to take 1cc back out because I couldn't swallow Water. He said he wants to an xray to see how tight I am because he's shocked how little I'm able to take in my band. Personally, I'm not complaining, I'm totally happy right where I am.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
