Its Getting Nice Outside And I Really Want A Beer!!

Recommended Posts

Lol... we are going to have 70s here in Denver all week and I am starting to crave a beer. I really havent drank all that much liquer since being banded. I could probably count them on one hand, and they have all been non carbonated.

I am so terified of trying anything carbonated. I know B52 enjoys a beer now and then (lol). Has anyone else had any problems with having one? Is tap better than bottle as far as carbonation goes.

Im not positive but I think draft beer(tap beer) has more carbination then bottle beer. I would stick with bottle but thats just me. And I wouldnt be afraid. I asked my DR about having an ocassional diet soda and she assured me nothing bad was going to happen just not drink it fast and I may get some gas pains. I would assume beer would be the same.

Do not drink it from the bottle. Pour it into a glass and let it sit for a while before you start drinking. Sip it slowly and see how you go. Some people handle it fine, others don't . Just make sure that the 1 beer doesn't lead to 2 then 3 then a bowl of chips, peanuts, chicken wings etc. The problem with alcohol apart from the empty calories is that it often causes us to make poor food choices as well.

I am a beer drinker too but thought that those days were over for me. I was told by my doc that carbonated drinks would be so painful that if I tried it once I'd never do it again...is this true? Or can I go back to my Michelob Ultras?

I'm in Denver too and this weather definitely calls for (1!) beer on the back porch ... beautiful here!!

I drink beer occasionally. I went 9 mths without any carbonation at all cuz I was afraid of what would happen. My first diet pepsi was heaven. I have a sip or 2 of my husbands about 2-3 times a week but I would never even dream of finishing one myself. Same with beer. I'm sure it won't hurt me - it's just I can't drink that much anymore.

Good luck!

I've had a few sips of beer and of soda. It hurts most of the time. I ordered a beer a couple of weeks ago when I went out with a friend. I was really bummed when I had one sip and it was so uncomfortable. I'm not a big drinker, but I would really have liked a beer every now and then.

I am a two drink limit person anyway, and that is if I feel like partying!! lol So I wont have to worry about over doing it. I think I will try it one of these days and see what happens. It sounds like it will just be uncomfortable if anything. I might be able to handle that if it happens. thanks guys

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
