A Little Prayer

Recommended Posts

For those of us who believe in a Higher Power, God, Jesus Budah whomever, try this. Print this prayer on business cards and stick them here there and everywhere. In the car, in your wallet, in the bathroom or on the fridg. My good friend who was banded on 11/1/2005 gave it to me.

Dear God,

I surrender my body and my weight loss to your divine care and love. I ask that you remove all excess unnecessary weight from my body. Return mybody to it’s most healthy and balanced state. Give me eating habits that support my health and life energy, and finally, teach me to love my body and to care for it from this day forth. Amen

I know it when I read it I stop... I might eat, I might eat better or sometimes I say "Drink some more water" LOL

That and another tip Lynn gave me... eat with a baby spoon it slows ya down... now it's like a love affair with my yogurt... oooooo LOL

any hoo just something I would Share!

Good Luck to you all! Just Keep Swimming!!!

Tips I was given include the baby spoon and a sippy cup. I have to get out this week and buy a bunch of the pre and post op neccessities I'm gonna have to have. The blender, food, bottled Water, etc. The list on this site really helped me alot in thinking of things I'm gonna need.

This little prayer will be a nice reminder to have around.

Jen, I love your avatar caption! Just keep swimming, just keep swimming! Aint it the thruth?!

Thanks for sharing the idea about the prayer. Reminders are good to have on the refridgerator, the bathroom mirror, the steering wheel... wherever you know you'll see it again and again. Too many times we pick up these burdens and expect to be able to carry them alone. We forget we have someone that is willing to help out. I'm sure He shakes his head in wonder at us when we strive so hard to do it on our own, banging out heads against the wall of life, when all we have to do is ask for the help.

I like the idea about small spoons too. I bought some of those plastic reusable/disposable containers with lids.. know the ones I mean? Well, I got two sets of 1/2 cup containers and two sets of the small rectangular ones that hold about a cup. I use them to measure foods and I serve my meals in them. Trying to wrap my brain around 1/2 cup of food in a larger sized bowl that I'm used to was really hard. I was alway wanting to put in more than I should. Hope this idea helps someone out there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
