Ok, so as many of you know I am scheduled to have my surgery on April 2nd in Mexico. I'm self pay and have no issues going into Mexico.

I'm having Dr. Ortiz @ Obesity Control Center preform my surgery and they have sent me link to watch webinars. I found a video of the surgery I will be having.

While it's NOT easy to watch and not everyone wants or should to see something like this, I thought I would share it for those of you who might. I thought it was pretty cool and feel better about it now knowing exactly what will be done.

Thanks for posting this link, Julie. I'll admit that I barely got past the first incision. I've read about the procedure and have decided that's plenty of information for me. Strange, I know, coming from the woman who typically wants to know about every little detail.

As I tried to watch the video, I kept thinking about how thankful I am for the highly skilled, caring individuals who work in the medical profession. Thanks, Deb! I absolutely could NOT do it.

Totally understand Elizabeth. I knew there would be a few ppl who didn't wish to watch it. I watched those birthing videos too and that completely freaked me out, but I still had 3 children so I wasn't too worried about watching this one.

Funny thing, I have stood next to surgeons as they performed surgery, been witness to births and c-sections(yuk), have had several surgeries myself but am too chicken to watch video for fear I might change my mind.LOL.

I understand. I felt the same way. Once my surgery is over, I am going to try to watch it again. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
