I'm itching like crazy around the wounds. I's this normal?

I believe that means they're healing! Annoying, but normal!

Yes. How long have you been post op?

Try some mild anti-septic cream on the skin around the wound, not on it... its a sign of healing but sometimes our skin gets very dry and needs a little moisture to help ..

I was banded on the 1st, and mine are itchy, too! It seems to be the worst at night, and I'm worried I will scratch my scabs off in my sleep. During the day, I just itch around them, being careful not to touch the actual incision site, so as not to introduce infection. But, yes....it's perfectly normal. We're healing up!

i broke out in the rash from hell from that damn glue they use and tape... drove me nuts.. but i put hydrocortosone 1% cream all around the wounds, not on them.. and that soothed the itch enough for me to live with it.. took 3 weeks to clear... DON'T whatever you do scratch.. if you do you can make striates.. which will stay with you a long time.. women do that in pregnancy and leave awful marks on their tummys.. just rub through your clothes lightly if its becoming nightmarish.. check with your docs too.. maybe they have some ideas for you. benadryl didn't work..calamine lotion didn't work...i just had to ride mine out.. when it finally abated.. i just used aloe or oil of olay lotion on my torso to cool it and to get the skin back to normal... oh the joys of lap band.. welcome to the club

i was bandedon feb 9th.. it wasn't bad enough to have the bloat, the gas, the burps the pain.... then i got the ITCH... i was wondering if i had been banded under an unlucky star. well the good news is, ITCH or no itch.. i lost 20 pounds and i' still haven't had a fill... my first fill is march 22nd.. im dying to know what being filled will really mean. I'm told I will feel full quicker.. that i won't want to eat large portions. etc etc.. i never knew it took so long to get some sort of HELP from this band.. up til now its all been white kknuckle dieting.. just like the old days.. only this time with the burps, the bloats, the pain.... and oh yes, the itch from the planet lapband.

and yes i live in irvine, ca...counting the days to get that fill.....eating my egg whites and dry toast...going to the gym... being good.. but i sure am feeling like this is taking an awfully long time. i guess i have the next 30 years to live... so waiting another 11 days for a fill is reasonable. :)

I was really itchy too. My incisions got all iritated. My Dr said I had a reaction to the strips they use to cover the incisions. I took Benadryl and felt a lot better. I know its had but try not to scratch the more you do the more it will itch.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
