I Had Surgery On March 6, 2012!

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband surgery March 6th and I am doing wonderful! I have quite a bit of pain on my left side but nothing I can't manage. I am eating my 3 meals, drinking my Protein Shakes and taking my supplements all without nausea! So far I do not feel hungry and I keep moving which helps the soreness. I am so thankful everything went okay and I am looking forward to my journey! Just wanted to update everybody, thanks for all of your support!!!

Question: were you starving right after your sugary? I had mine today and ever since I have left there I have been starving! Had some chicken broth but I take it that that just passed right through!! Will it past?

Honestly I wasn't hungry. When it is time to eat I don't feel like I'm starving at that point either. It will pass, your body is adjusting to your band and your mind just needs to catch up to your body. Day by day you should start to feel better. Keep me posted and we will go through this journey together! Also I eat 3 meals a day and 3 Protein Shakes in between along with Water. Make sure you're getting the shakes in maybe that would help with the hunger.

I was very hungry the whole week after the surgery. I called my nutricionist and she said I wasn't supposed to feel hungry but I was feeling horrible. The good thing was that when I started the puree stage I felt like I was in heaven. From the last time I was weight before surgery to the first visit a week after the surgery I lost 21 pounds. That was a good gratification. :-)

Glad you are doing well! Some people seem to have a really hard time with pain/gas, but it's good you didn't (I didn't either really). I think I was fairly hungry after as well....but do your best to follow your stage timelines, as they are there to help you heal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
