I would be curious to find out too! :) I took off my bandages yesterday and saw how small the scars are and was so surprised. 4 of the scars are the width of my thumb nail and the port incision is just a little more than an inch! :) Yay!!!

This is one of the great things about the lap band, the minimal scarring.

Some people use aloe vera which is the sap from the leaves of a natural healing plant or you could try any good high street skin lotions, keeping the scars from drying out will speed up the healing times.

I just got banded tuesday and had to look I could not get over how small. I keep wondering how they got the band in there????? lol Maybe I don't want to know! ! lol

When did you start to put stuff on your scares? I think I should keep my covered up still?

One of my incisions (the one at my bra line) came off so I'm just dabbing it on three to four times a day. Waiting for the covering to come off The rest before I start

There is an OTC (over the counter) skin gel called "MEDERMA", which is a skin treatment for scars. I used it last year after my colon surgery, and it did help to fade the scars, and they were not pretty ones :(

I will plan on using it again when my new incisions are healed closed. I still have the adhesive on them all, but my surgery was only 2 weeks ago.

This product is not inexpensive (about $32.00 a tube), but aren't we worth it? The tube has lasted me since last July, and the odorless, colorless gel is refreshing on your skin.

I am almost one month post op and I am waiting for my port scar to heal completely before trying the Mederma. It has really good reviews.

I honestly am not too awful worried about my scars. I mean, with stretch marks and tubal ligation and tubal reversal scars, what's a few more? Lol. I won't be in a bikini, and I'm sure my husband doesn't mind either! But more power to u bikini bods!

Ditto!!!! I'm always amazed by the posts voicing concerns over their 3 or 4 1/2in incision sites. I only wish my stomach waa perfect outside of those scars!!!! LOL :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
