Did U Tell Or Not? If Not..what Was Your Story?

Recommended Posts

I did not tell many people until the week before. We had a family event planned that would be way to physical for me to attend and I had no idea what kind of excuse to give. Most of my family does not know though. I don't know why but I just did not want to blast it out. I have told a few people at work so I am sure when I get back everyone will know.

After trying a million diets -usually shared with all- I have lost all credibility with people I know...this time it will be my secret (weapon).

Will be telling everyone how focused I am and that when I put my mind to something....I can get it done!!! Hehehehe

No one needs to know....

I told my family because they are always concerned for me and I thought by telling them what I was going to do they would think about doing the same and they have. I of course told my boss and one co worker and that is because my co worker had it done already and my boss needed to know because I needed the time off. I made the mistake of telling my mother in law during a conversation about weight loss and I have had nothing but negative feed back the normal question of "why can't you do it on your own" and then she started calling me fat to my face so I stopped telling anyone else that doesn't matter or that I don't have a very close relationship with. Needless to say my husband was very upset that she would react that way and we now don't go over there at all which is sad because now our son doesn't see her either. Anyway the bottom line is pick and choose who you want to tell if you have someone in your life that you know will be supportive and your very close to then tell them, you could use all the support you can get, but if they are not that close and their opinion doesn't matter then don't tell them let them be envious....lol Good luck (on my two week diet for surgery on 4/3/12)

People can be so unbelievably mean!!! My mother in law also liked to call me "fatty"....she thought it was cute.... Not so cute for me!!!

Can't wait to "show" them all- BUT really I'm doing this whole thing just for ME and no one else!:) I had that realization a few days ago....at the end of the day, you don't have more friends if you're skinny....the people that love you, love you fat or skinny...it's all about how you feel inside about yourself....and I NEED to be skinny :)

1.5 weeks to go to band day.....:) Yey can't wait :)

I am scheduled to have surgery some time in May. I have told my close circle of friends and my sisters. Im not hiding it, but not advertising it either. When people ask, I will tell them I am working out, eating healthy, reducing my portions etc...none of which is a lie. They don't need to know I have tool in place to help me. I treat it like I would anything else that is my personal business. I hate when hear people say.."Oh she lost weight because she had surgery" Like it is some magic fix. You still have to work hard, if not harder than someone on a regular diet. I won't be posting on FB, not knocking anyone who does, but it is just not my style.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
