Slow Loser...motivation Needed :-)

Recommended Posts

Good Evening Everyone,

I had the surgery on 11/30 and am now down 18 pounds. I'm happy because I have had some success, but I'm a little dissappointed because I feel like I should be down more. I've been in the gym *4 times a week* and track my food on myfitnesspal. I just thought I'd be closer to 30lbs by now, but I can't complain. However, it's the weeks where I notice a gain of 1 to 2lbs that concern me. Can anyone suggest some things I can do differently or meal plans I can try for better results? I try to stay between 1000 to 1200 calories per day, but typically burn off 400 to 500.

I had my surgery feb 2011 and I'm down 87 pounds 57 of it being in the last 6-8 months seriously stay strong it starts fast than slows down quickly! Alot if people get discouraged but I'm proof you'll get past it! Focus on the process not the outcome- contine to give your body what it needs and I promise the weight will start melting off!

You could try adding additonal work outs. Keep in mind you are adding muscle and muscle burns more calories than fat. So success breeds sucess. Also keep in mind your body burns calories just keeping the lights on per se.

I am glad I saw your post. I WAS BANDED 11/30 ALSO! And I am also a slow loser and find the process very frustrating. So far I have lost around 23 lbs. It has been very hard for me to make all the adjustments to a new way of life, especially not snacking. I am a snacker. and i used to eat alot at night. Now all that has to change and it's challenging. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK TO SUCCESS with your calorie intake. The only thing I would do is make sure your calories are good calories and that you are getting in min. 60 g of Protein, more is prob better. and if you're just doing cardio exercise maybe switch it up with some weight lifting. Don't be discourage, you are doing well. and don't compare yourself to other or you'll drive yourself crazy

I agree switch it up a little with some weight/resistance work, i do as much cardio as i do strength .. i have really good muscle tone in legs and arms and i know this is helping burn the calories for me :). ( even with my bingo wings !) Sometimes its not the amount of calories but how they are made up, so watch the carbs and fat and sugar and try increasing the metabolic foods like broccoli and chilli flakes etc also try not to eat anything late evening metabolism is slowing down by then ..

Keep plugging away at things i am sure it will start shifting eventually..

I think you are fine! I lost at about a rate of 6 pounds a month and I am now a steady size six whose weight does not fluctuate at all...others lost faster but from where I am sitting now I dont care and also I feel I adjusted really well to a lifestyle I can live with forever! Good Luck!

You've lost 16 lbs in the 15 weeks since you've been banded, that is actually awesome! Many people don't lose anything until the reach restriction after a few fills.

I didn't lose anything the first two months after I was banded. Band literature tells us 1-2 pounds per week average. I averaged 0.75 lbs per week during the active weight-loss phase of my banded life.

Keep creating good banded habits, the rest will follow.

I lost about 40 pounds prior to being banded. I am a month away from being at the 1 year point and have only lost 20 pounds. It did take long to feel restriction-at 9.5 cc in my 14 cc band-and I think I could still use a slight amount more fill. I am feeling discouraged today. Had some other health issues that have taken some of my focus off of my eating/exercise habits in the past month or so and need to get back on track. I am still close to being on track to reach my one year goal but fear that maybe this is all the weight I will lose. Need to lose another 25 pounds to reach two year goal. Started at 223 and am now at about 165.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
